FAQ

Can I book for only one person?

Yes, you can! Maybe other people will join, maybe not. Either way, we’re happy to have you and we’ll make sure you won’t have to miss out on the experience.

How big are the groups?

We give the cooking classes for one to max. 10 people.

Can I take my child along?

Yes, you can. However, for safety reasons we ask children to above the age of 9.

What’s the location?

We run our cooking classes in the local neighborhood of Bakoteh. We want to keep it as real as possible. Therefore, we cook in front of Jainaba’s house (the founder of Cooking Classes Gambia). The real Gambian style.

How did Cooking Classes Gambia start?

Jainaba has a longtime friend from the Netherlands called Jitske. In the summer of 2019 when Jitske visited again, she took people she met at the hotel to Jainaba’s place. They went food shopping and cooked Gambian style food together. They realized this could be an opportunity to share their passion for local food with foreigners. Tourists would get to know the real Gambia and Jainaba and her friends could get a better life of which they could be proud. Full of energy and ideas, a businessplan was drawn up, the house was rebuilt (to fix a toilet that would meet international standards), cookingpots were bought, aprons were designed….. and so it began!
